"The Bone Collector's Son"

I just finished reading a book called The Bone Collector’s Son by Paul Yee. It’s a fantasy book, and it’s about almost 200 pages long. I really liked the book, since it’s a fantasy book – I like fantasy books – and it’s about ghosts – and I like not-too-creepy ghost stories. The book’s about a Chinese boy and his father that immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, in 1907. The boy’s father lost all his money by gambling, and now he has a terrible job – digging up the bones of the dead Chinese people so that they can be sent back home to China. After digging a skull-less skeleton up, the boy and his father start experiencing strange and sometimes terrifying events. There is not only one ghost at work…
I had many connections to this book, but to prevent this blog post from becoming too long, I’m just going to list two. One connection is a lot of words and things related to China are familiar to me, because my family is Chinese. Another connection is that I’ve read other books about ghosts and spirits. I wonder if the boy and his father will go back to China because of the prejudice?
As I said earlier, this is a really good book, and not only is it all about ghosts, it’s also about what Canada was like in 1907. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, historical fiction, or mystery, and I hope you’ll enjoy the book if you choose to read it!
